Description

Complement 5a (C5a) is a protein fragment generated by the enzymatic cleavage of complement component C5 during complement activation. It belongs to the anaphylatoxin family of related proteins. C5a is a potent mediator of proinflammatory responses and a chemotactic factor for neutrophils and other leukocytes. It causes histamine release, increased vascular permeability, induces IL‐8 production by monocytes, enhances neutrophil-endothelial cell adhesion, and augments immune responses. Recombinant Mouse C5a is an 8.9 kDa glycoprotein containing the 77 amino acid residues of the C5a anaphylatoxin chain.
