Description

Neuritin (NRN1, CPG15) is a highly conserved neurotrophic factor that promotes neurite outgrowth and branching, indicating its role in neuritogenesis. Expression is induced by synaptic activity, as well as by neurotrophins including BDNF, NGF and NT3. In the developing nervous system, Neuritin is expressed in postmitotic-differentiating neurons. In the adult, it is involved in regulating synaptic plasticity.
