Description

IL-36 gamma (also known as IL-1F9) is a member of the IL-1 family of cytokines and binds to interleukin 1 receptor-like 2 (IL1RL2) and IL-1RAcP. IL-36 gamma displays proinflammatory effects and, along with the other IL-36 cytokines, can activate NF-kB and MAPK signaling pathways. It is reported to be expressed in cells including Langerhans cells, keratinocytes/stratified squamos epithelium, chief cells, parietal cells and bronchial epithelial cells. Expression of IL36 gamma in the skin is elevated through contact hypersensitivity and psoriasis, as well as inflammatory lung disorders (like asthma) and viral infections.
