Description
The HM48-1 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD48, a 45 kDa GPI-anchored glycoprotein that is also known as BCM1. CD48 is a member of the signaling lymphocyte activation molecule (SLAM) family and Ig superfamily. It is expressed on leukocytes, but not on non-hematopoietic cells and plays a role in cell adhesion and activation. The primary ligands for CD48 are CD2 (LFA-2) and CD244 (2B4 antigen). The HM48-1 antibody is reported to block in vitro and in vivo CD48 mediated interactions.
